Choosing a Surrogate Mother in Georgia: A Personal Journey
Yesterday marked my 41st birthday, a bittersweet milestone since losing a pregnancy at 23 weeks in 2021. Birthdays have been tough, a reminder of time passing and dreams delayed. This year, though, offered a glimmer of hope. While on a business trip, R surprised me with a stunning bouquet at my hotel. Later, we received profiles of potential surrogate mothers in Georgia from our Medical Coordinator.
Choosing a Surrogate Mother in Georgia
The coordinator shared two profiles, each accompanied by medical histories and clinic photos. I scrutinized every detail, from pregnancy history to personality traits, trying to envision which woman might carry our baby.
One candidate, “L,” was 38 with four births—two for herself and two as a surrogate—all natural deliveries. The second, “M,” was 32 with one child and one surrogacy experience, but both births were C-sections. Each profile presented unique advantages and risks, making the choice challenging.
Weighing the Options
We debated endlessly. “L” had more experience, but her age concerned us. Meanwhile, “M” was younger but had undergone two C-sections. We even sought reassurance from horoscopes and Chinese zodiacs, desperate for clarity.
A third profile arrived just in time: “N,” a 30-year-old with two children but no prior surrogacy experience. Her eight-year gap since childbirth and less “motherly” photo left us hesitant. Ultimately, we chose “M,” trusting our instincts after thorough deliberation.
Looking Ahead
Now, we await “M” to begin the preparation process. The Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) date is still to be determined. While the journey feels surreal, we are moving forward with cautious optimism.
