About Us

A little birdie whispered into my ear…

Welcome to the blog – I’ll introduce myself as “Mrs. S” and we’ll call my husband “Mr. R.”

I started this blog as a personal diary to document and share our surrogacy journey— a journey shaped by five years of IVF, pregnancy loss, and, above all, secrecy. We’ve kept so much hidden, not only at work but also from close friends and family. When we finally reached the decision to pursue surrogacy, I wasn’t planning on opening up to the world about it. But then something changed, and here we are.

The decision for anonymity isn’t out of shame but first and foremost, out of privacy

From our parents and families, we’re afraid to give them hope after so much heartbreak. From our close friends, we learned to hide the attempts and the plans because it’s hard to explain and talk about so openly. During the IVF process, at first we openly shared details with friends, but after time, it became a topic that we didn’t want to focus on – no news meant no news, and they also learned to stop asking, even out of care and love.

I’m not sure what to expect from this blog. Likely very few people will find it in the depths of the great big bottomless internet. I’ve always wanted to write as a way to heal and introspect… to allow the thoughts rambling incessantly in my head to find a home on the page (or rather, screen).

What’s with the Name?

The blog’s name is a playful twist on Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility. Admittedly, I haven’t actually read the book—but I found the alliteration amusing. Also because most of the other names that I came up with turned out to be actual surrogacy clinics or agencies, mostly in California. I didn’t want to fight them for trademark rights 🙂

I’m not directly affiliated to any commercial surrogacy businesses, such as agencies, clinics, or hospitals. I’m simply here to share my personal stories and insights along the way. Our own experience thus far involves working with a clinic in Georgia, a choice we very carefully made despite so many unknowns, after thorough research and visiting several clinics on our own. That’s the only specific perspective I can offer.

In the Services section, you can learn more details on how I might assist other couples considering surrogacy in Georgia. I offer consultation and services in navigating the surrogacy process, including guidance on finding the best clinic for your needs, comparing packages, reviewing contracts, and handling on-ground needs in Georgia.

As I continued to ponder the name of the blog, I asked ChatGPT it’s take on the moral of the story.

Ultimately, Sense and Sensibility promotes the idea that true wisdom is found when one can feel deeply while still acting thoughtfully—living with both compassion and caution.

And that perfectly encapsulates the essence of this space. Not just for myself, but for those of you who might also be going through the same challenges, please feel free to reach out.
